A sore throat is definitely something everyone goes through, and now in the fall, it affects almost everyone—adults and children alike. How can you get rid of a sore throat without medication?
Can you beat a sore throat without medication? What will definitely help?
A sore throat is unpleasant, and we certainly always want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. But how? If you’re relying on medication, you don’t have to. You can get rid of a sore throat—which is typical of the common cold—very quickly and easily. Just be careful that a simple sore throat doesn’t turn into strep throat. If you’re dealing with a bacterial infection, the usual tips won’t help, nor will over-the-counter medications from the pharmacy. If you have a very severe sore throat, severely swollen tonsils, or white patches in your throat and on your tonsils, you should see a doctor, as antibiotics are usually necessary—and only a doctor can prescribe them. However, for a common sore throat or a scratchy throat caused by the flu or a cold, you can help yourself.

Prepare a drink that will cure you
A sore throat can be treated with natural antibiotics. These include, in particular, ginger and garlic. It is recommended to simply chew on garlic; cloves work similarly. Ginger tea combined with honey and lemon is something that can get you over any cold very quickly and will also help with a sore throat. However, you must use fresh ginger. Simply peel a piece of fresh ginger and cut it into small pieces, then pour boiling water over it and let it steep. Once the tea has cooled, add a little honey and lemon. You can sip this tea at least twice a day when you have a sore throat.
Lukewarm milk with a pat of butter and a teaspoon of honey also helps with a sore throat. You can try this recipe especially with children, as kids usually don’t want ginger tea. Milk with honey, however, is sweet and they’re sure to like it.

For a sore throat, gargle
Gargling is also great for a sore throat. You can gargle with propolis tincture mixed with water, or with a salt solution. A little warm water with salt is an excellent remedy; plus, you’ll always have salt at home, and relief comes quickly. You can also gargle with herbs, especially chamomile, sage, or thyme.
When you have a sore throat, it’s important to stay hydrated; drinking tea is recommended, but a strong chicken or chicken broth can also help.
